Welcomed to Brothers Junior Information - Aim to have children participate in a team sport for fun, enjoyment, physical activity and to develop life skills.

Brothers Hockey Club (BHC) does not charge a club fees for U8's to U11 players. U13's Club Fees 2011 $45.00.

Junior Hockey caters for U8 Boys & Girls, U10 Girls, U11 Boys, U13 Girls Division A, B, & C and U13 Boys

U8 Boys & Girls play on a Friday afternoon/night from about 4.30pm to 6.30pm. The 2011 Cairns Hockey Association (CHA) fees were $70.00 for the year. 

The players play on both an artificial surface called the turf and on grass fields, on quarter of a full field and across the field. There are a maximum of 6 players on the field at one time.  The games are 2 x 20 minute halves.  There is no charge for grass games and a small charge for turf games.

U10 Girls & U11 Boys play on a Saturday Morning at 8.00am.  The 2011 Cairns Hockey Association (CHA) fees were $135.00.  

U13 Girls & U13 Boys play on a Saturday Morning from 9.00am to 1pm. The Cairns Hockey Association (CHA) 2011 fees were $160.00 (Discounted Fee) or $170.00.

U10s to U13's play on turf and full grass fields. They play 2 x 30 minutes halves, with a maximum of 11 players on the field at any one time. There are game fees each week - Grass fields 2011 fees $40.00 per team, Turf 2011 Fees $60.00 per team.

The Club Playing Shirt is provided for players, Brothers socks are available for purchase from the Brothers Club House. U8 to U11 Players provide their own maroon coloured shorts. U13 Girls purchase a Club Skirt $35.00, and U13 Boys purchase Club Shorts $40. Each player provides their own shoes. Also required is a hockey stick, shin pads, and recommended is a mouth guard.  

A beginners kit which contains a hockey stick, shin pads, a ball and a stick bag can be provided free of charge to any new players who cannot provide their own.

IN CAIRNS FIELD HOCKEY IS PLAYED BY OVER 800 JUNORS EVERY WEEK

 Field hockey is team sport with reach across the globe. It is played in at least 116 countries (members of the International Hockey Federation). Matches at the professional level have a duration of about 1 hour 15 minutes, making hockey a short and action packed sport.

Field hockey is one of the most popular team sports in Australia as it is a very highly aerobic, skilled and non contact sport. It develops positive social skills such as cooperation, commitment and reward for effort.

In Cairns our Hockey Association caters for all fitness levels and age groups from under 8 years to Veterans playing both day and night fixtures on Two world standard Turf fields and associated grass fields.
